you invade my slumber
waiting patiently
for my eyes
to finally rest,
so you may dust them with
your lies.
a premonition becomes me
as she holds you close
and turns her gaze toward mine.
a usurper
begging the mirror
for proof.
look at who you were
and who you never will
be again.
her lips sharpen
into the shape of your cruelty,
driving me past the corner,
again
and again
until the walls
collapse inward.
the air in my lungs is conquered,
stolen
for your dance beneath the sheets
i watch her bosom rise,
watch her legs fold,
watch her arms fall open
while my breath
belongs to you.
